The chronos of mind

The past mind cannot be apprehended.
The present mind cannot be apprehended.
The future mind cannot be apprehended.

Why?

Because the past is gone.
Because the future is yet to come.
Because the present – before you can even pronounce the word ‘present’ – it is already gone, replaced by another present.

The mind is a temporal trinity.
There is no partition.
There is no past, no present, no future.
There is no time.
There is only change.

And we call this change –
time.

  1. I suppose with ‘mind’, you are referring to the ‘sangsaric mind’, the mind of conditioned existence (space, time and causality). There is also Mind, Buddha or Self-Nature, the transcendent Mind of Nirvana. But I assume you already knew that.

    1. They are the same mind but of different appearance. Like the mirror: the reflected images may be different but the mirror is the same. Nirvana is simply the ’empty’ mirror. The problem most of us have is that we focus on the images, thus never realising that there is a mirror until it is ’emptied’. What is the true nature of the mirror? What is the true nature of the mind?
